Fun with acrylics!

 Good morning!

Here's another creation I finished recently for the "Storytime" show at the Art Hub gallery in Carleton Place, ON. I wove the frame out of gathered grape vines growing near the house, let them dry for more than a year, added some dried moss to fill in any gaps, and it's been spray sealed. The painted bird is from a reference photo by Lille Browning.

Well, it's been a while! After a crazy summertime spent gardening, I'm back into getting more artwork out there!

I've had my art up at the new Carleton Place Art Hub, and the third show is about to open this week. This show's theme is "Storytime", so I felt this image provoked the idea of there being a story/tale to what is happening:

                                                            "Feathery Hug" $130, h/w 12"x10"
This is done in soft pastel on coloured paper.

Another piece I've completed recently that has also been up for sale at the CP Art Hub is this one, for the current show, with the theme "Sizzling Hot!". This is an acrylic painting on canvas:

"Watching the Sparks Fly", $140 (approx h/w 10"x8")

Some recent gifts/commissions

Well, I thought I should post some photos of some presents and commissions I did for this past holiday season!

My sister has an adorable pug named Cookie and I wanted to create a memorable gift for her.
Here is the original photo and the final chalk:

Another piece I created was a commission for a friend of mine. It was her cat, Tilly. She is a sweet little girl, a rescued kitty, and I absolutely loved her pose in this photo! This is the original photo and the chalk rendering next to it:

And finally, this is a photo of my nieces on their trip across Canada this past year. I THINK this is in Alberta, looking over at the Rocky mountains...but it was a nice capture of them and a memory of their amazing journey in 2023! The original photo is also on the left, with the watercolour piece on the right:

I really wish I could get a good photo of my final pieces, though - my camera phone just doesn't do the colour justice :P Ah well...at least you get the idea of what was created!
